Four one-year scholarships, each valued at $1500, are available from the UQ Business School and School of Tourism to be awarded to outstanding Australian and International students who are admitted to the Bachelor of Business (BBus) at the UQ Ipswich Campus in 2008.

Basis of Award
• Criteria based on Year 12 Overall Position, or international equivalent. Interviews may be required;
• Personal statement regarding high school involvement and community involvement;

Junior Year Program in English - Student Exchange Programs

The main purpose of Junior Year Program in English (JYPE) is to offer an opportunity for you to take science, engineering, and education courses at Tohoku University, without having to attain the Japanese language proficiency that would be necessary to take the same courses in Japanese. All lectures are given in English and course credit will be given by the standards for the equivalent courses offered in Japanese.

We recommend that you take two semesters (one-year), because some classes are designed for a whole year. However, a few students can be admitted for a single semester(6 months).

How do I apply?
For overseas student at one of Tohoku University’s partner universities, you can contact your Exchange Program Coordinator for information about applying to Tohoku University as an exchange student.
The Coordinator will be able to give you information about our selection criteria and will be available to assist you through the application and selection processes.

Your application must be submitted through the Exchange Program Coordinator at your home institution and you cannot make apply directly Tohoku University.

Requirements
To be considered for the Student Exchange program for one semester or one year of study at Tohoku University, you must:
• be an undergraduate or postgraduate student at your home university after completing the exchange program.
• have completed at least one year of study towards a degree at a recognized institution in your home country and be continuing towards the degree of your home institution.
• have a good grade average.
• have financial support of 80,000 yen per month during your stay in Japan.

Note: Every applicant for exchange programs can apply for the scholarship awarded by the Japanese Student Services Organization. But, the scholarship is highly competitive.

Indonesia English Language Study Program - IELSP (Batch – 4)

Indonesia English Language Study Program (Batch – IV) is a scholarship program offered to undergraduate students in any university in Indonesia (the 3rd year-above) to join an eight-week intensive English language courses at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

Applicants must:
• be 19-24 years of age
• be an undergraduate student at least on the fifth semester (3rd year) in any field of study from any university in Indonesia (NOT GRADUATE YET)
• be proficient in English with a minimum TOEFL®ITP score of 470 (NOT A PREDICTION TEST)
• be committed in returning to their home universities immediately after the program
• indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP) - The University of Sydney

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP) was established by the Goldman Sachs Foundation in 2001. The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in partnership with educational organizations in selected countries, conducts an annual international competition at over 90 top-ranked universities in 19 countries.

The competition identifies and rewards the academic excellence and leadership potential of 150 of the most accomplished second-year students from all disciplines for GSGLP (The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program).
The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program recognizes the 150 Global Leaders’ outstanding achievements and abilities by awarding each U.S. $3,000.

Based upon interviews, 75 of these student leaders are selected to represent the whole group at the annual Goldman Sachs Global Leadership Institute in New York City in July. At the Institute, students participate in leadership training and seminars on timely international issues.

To apply to the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program, students must be nominated by their universities in order to apply for this award. A nomination form can be presented to an academic for completion and sent to the Scholarships & Prizes Office, who will then submit nomination forms on behalf of each nominated student to the Foundation. Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria described below will be considered for the award. Nominees must:
• have distinguished themselves as leaders in their community or school;
• have high academic standing as demonstrated by grades received in the final year of secondary school (high school) and first year in college or university. Eligible candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0 or international equivalent, or be in the top 10% of his/her class;
• be full-time students in the second-year of a university undergraduate degree program at one of the universities invited to participate in the 2007-2008 program year;
• be pursuing their first undergraduate degree (all fields of study accepted); and demonstrate competency in spoken and written English. Proficiency in English is necessary to participate fully in the Global Leadership Institute.

Only nominated students will be asked to submit an application for the Global Leaders Program. Once the Scholarships & Prizes Office has received the nominations, selected students will be given the opportunity to apply. You cannot apply directly. An application consists of the following materials. These materials are not optional – all materials must be submitted in order for an application to be reviewed by the selection panel. Students should contact the program if they are unable to submit some materials.
• A completed electronic application. Application instructions will be sent to all nominated students via email. The application must be completed and submitted online; a printed copy must also be sent to IIE/New York with the supporting documents (detailed below.)
• An official transcript from the first year of college or university. Include an official explanation of marks from the university.
• An official transcript from the final year of secondary school.
• University entrance examination scores. Applicants must submit a photocopy of the official results. Original results are not required.
• Two letters of recommendation. One letter must come from a university faculty member. The other letter may come from another university faculty member or an adult, non-family member who has supervised the nominee’s education, work, or other activities. Letters must come from two different recommender.
• Resume. Curriculum Vitae, highlighting student’s experiences and accomplishments.

Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems Innovation - The University of Tokyo

Graduate School of Engineering (Three Departments), The University of Tokyo, offer advanced study and research opportunities to foreign students in the framework of the Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems Innovation (“the Special Program”).

The program offers:
• Master’s (2 years)
• Doctoral (3 years)
courses leading to the degrees of Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering degrees in the Three Departments, respectively.

Those accepted to Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems Innovation will be enrolled in the winter semester which begins on October 1, 2008. Research and instruction are conducted both in English and in Japanese. Japanese language courses are offered by the Department of Systems Innovation.

The students for Special Graduate Program on Engineering for Systems Innovation will be selected primarily based on academic qualification. To be eligible for admission to the Master’s program an applicant must hold Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. For admission to the doctoral program an applicant must hold a Master’s Degree or its equivalent. The age of the applicant must be under 35 on April 1, 2008 and must be citizens of countries with whom the Japanese government has diplomatic relations.

The evaluation is expected to rank the applicant according to his/her grade within certain education unit, for example, “top 5% among 98 students of the department, top 3 among 350 students” (see Sample). The report should be signed, sealed then sent directly to the Foreign Students Office of the Department of Quantum Engineering and Systems Science.
• A recommendation Letter from dean or a person in higher position of the institution. The letter should address to the President of The University of Tokyo and be directly sent to the Foreign Students Office of the Department of Quantum Engineering and Systems Science. Recommender’s E. mail address and telephone number must be indicated.
• Six copies of census register, passport or other proof of citizenship (do not need to send the original passport).
• Six passport-size photographs (6cm x 4cm) taken within past six months.
• A summery of thesis, research papers and other publications authored by applicant.

Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program 2008/2009

The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program carry a 12-month stipend for each student of $20,000 and an annual cost-of-education allowance of up to $12,000 and up to $20,000 support for a four to six week research collaboration at a NOAA facility.

Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarships provides support for outstanding scholarship and encourages independent graduate-level research in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archeology, particularly by women and members of minority groups. Doctoral students for up to four years, and masters students may be supported for up to two years.

Those eligible to apply The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program are United States citizens currently pursuing or intending to pursue a masters or doctoral level degree in oceanography, maritime archeology (including the curation, preservation, and display of maritime artifacts) or marine biology, (including all science, engineering, and resource management of ocean and coastal areas).

Recipients of The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program awards may be employed at the time of the award if it is a requirement of their degree program or directly related to their research effort. Other forms of employment will not be allowed and scholars will be required to submit a letter certifying that they meet this requirement. Eligibility must be maintained for each succeeding year of support and annual reporting requirements, to be specified at a later date, will apply.

The 2008/2009 application process begins on December 1, 2007. All applications must be received by February 8, 2008 no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

ASEAN Foundation Scholarships - Asian Institute of Technology

The ASEAN Foundation (AF) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have reached an agreement to develop quality human resources in the member countries of ASEAN through the offering of the AF-AIT Scholarships.

The ASEAN Foundation (AF), an initiative of the Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), was established on 15 December 1997 to help bring about shared prosperity and a sustainable future for the peoples of all ASEAN countries that now include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The ASEAN Foundation Scholarships for Nationals of ASEAN Member Countries is part of the ASEAN Foundation Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies and funded through the Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is based in Thailand and has affiliated centers in other parts of the world.

Ten (10) full scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals who wish to pursue masters degree in AIT. The scholarship award will cover tuition and other academic fees, and living allowances for a 2-year programme.

Four (4) scholarship slots will be awarded under the project “Capacity building for Gender, Poverty and Mobility Analysis of Road Transportation Development in GMS Region”.

University of Bristol are pleased to announce 10 scholarships available to international taught postgraduate students (overseas fee payers) from any country. Anyone who has submitted an application for a taught postgraduate programme, to arrive at the University by Friday 30 May 2008, is eligible to apply. Get Out of Debt Scholarship

$500 scholarship given four times per year. International students may apply with a short essay about why you’re in debt and why the scholarship will help you attend an educational program. More and more people worldwide are finding it harder to afford to go to college because they’re in debt. Many students work full-time, get financial aid and if they are lucky, grants. Even so, they’re still in debt, and they can’t seem to get out of debt regardless of how hard they try. That’s why we created the Get Out of Debt Scholarship.

The $500 Get Out of Debt Scholarships are being offered in honor of all the people who simply need a little help with their higher education bill due to credit card and other debt. This $500 annual awards was created in 2003 as a once-a-year award, but based on the number of great applications we’ve received, we now grant four awards.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be attending or planning to attend a college, trade school, technical institute, vocational program or other post-secondary education program in the 2006-2007 academic year.

2009-2010 Academic Year - Community College Summit Initiative Program

AMINEF is pleased to announce the availability of Fulbright scholarships to study in the United States for the 2009 – 2010 academic year.
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State is pleased to announce the Community College Summit Initiative Program.

The Community College Summit Initiative Program will provide funding for round-trip airfare to the U.S.; a living allowance during English language, academic, and practical training program components; tuition costs; a health benefit plan; and cultural enhancement activities. Students will be hosted in groups by community colleges competitively selected to participate in the program. Programs may be one or two years in duration and may result in either a certificate or an Associate Degree. Students are required to return home at the end of their program and may not transfer to a four-year U.S. academic institution.

3. Business Management and Administration; Health Professions, including Nursing; Information Technology; Media; and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

To apply to the program, candidates must:
• Have completed a secondary school education;

• Have English language skills that provide a basis for enrolling in academic coursework following approximately 8 weeks of intensive English language study in the U.S.; and

This research grant is for Indonesian scholars who have a doctoral degree or equivalent professional qualifications. The grant affords Indonesian scholars the opportunity to conduct research in the U.S. for a period of three to six months. Bantuan Beasiswa Pascasarjana Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program

IFP menyediakan bantuan untuk studi pascasarjana (Master atau Doktoral) bagi anggota masyarakat yang kurang memiliki kesempatan untuk menempuh pendidikan tinggi, antara lain penduduk yang tinggal di daerah terpencil, masyarakat adat, masyarakat terpinggirkan, atau masyarakat yang berada di daerah konflik/pascakonflik. Kaum perempuan sangat dianjurkan untuk melamar.Pelamar harus memiliki kewarganegaraan Indonesia dan bertempat tinggal di Indonesia.

Ford Foundation, sebuah lembaga nirlaba yang mengabdi untuk perdamaian dunia dan kesejahteraan umat manusia, telah meluncurkan International Fellowships Program (IFP). Secara garis besar, tujuan-tujuan Ford Foundation adalah memperkuat nilai-nilai demokratis, mengurangi kemiskinan dan ketidakadilan, mendukung kerjasama internasional, serta meningkatkan karya manusia.

Beasiswa Bagi Mahasiswa Baru PTS

Bagi masyarakat yang benar-benar ingin meningkatkan atau melanjutkan pendidikannya, namun memiliki kemampuan finansial (keuangan) nya sangat terbatas. Maka untuk lebih meringankan biaya pendidikannya, dapat mengajukan beasiswa ke KPT (Konsultan Pendidikan Tinggi).

Persyaratan:
1. Beasiswa ini hanya diperuntukkan bagi masyarakat yang kemampuan finansialnya benar-benar terbatas dan tidak mencukupi untuk membayar/mengangsur biaya pendidikan, sedangkan yang bersangkutan sangat ingin (memiliki motivasi tinggi) untuk melanjutkan/meningkatkan pendidikannya.
2. Pemilihan PTS yang dituju, ditentukan oleh KPT dengan mempertimbangkan :
- Jurusan yang dipilih calon mahasiswa penerima beasiswa terkait
- Urutan prioritas PTS yang diinginkan/diminati calon terkait
- Lokasi tempat tinggal calon terkait.

Beasiswa Penelitian Tugas Akhir Mahasiswa dari WWF Indonesia

Program Konservasi Spesies WWF-Indonesia berinisiatif mengundang mahasiswa/i sarjana (S1) dan pasca-sarjana tingkat akhir yang sedang atau akan menyelesaikan Tugas Akhir (skripsi/thesis/disertasi) untuk melaksanakan studi terkait pelestarian harimau Sumatera. Studi yang dilakukan akan mengidentifikasi aspek-aspek penting yang perlu dipertimbangkan dalam usaha pelestarian harimau Sumatera dan habitatnya sebagai bahan rekomendasi untuk pengelolaan yang lebih baik.

Tema umum dari studi ini adalah Melestarikan Harimau Sumatera dengan Pemahaman Masalahnya.
Tema meliputi :
1. Bio-ekologi harimau Sumatera dan mangsanya, meliputi aspek populasi dan habitat
2. Mitigasi konflik manusia dan harimau: status dan penanganannya
3. Aspek-aspek sosial, ekonomi dan budaya terkait harimau Sumatera
4. Hukum menyangkut pelestarian harimau Sumatera (termasuk aspek perburuan dan perdagangan illegal serta upaya pencegahannya, pelestarian habitat, dan sebagainya)
5. Kebijakan pemerintah dalam upaya konservasi harimau Sumatera
6. Peran berbagai pihak dalam pelestarian harimau Sumatera

Kategori Beasiswa
Kategori besarnya nilai beasiswa akan ditentukan berdasarkan kebutuhan dana yang terkait dengan tujuan, metode dan durasi penelitian yang diajukan oleh setiap pelamar, serta ketersediaan dana. WWF Indonesia akan mengutamakan pelamar yang memiliki sumber dana pendamping. Bagi pelamar yang berhasil, WWF Indonesia -Program Riau menyediakan dana hibah antara Rp. 5.000.000 (lima juta rupiah) hingga Rp. 15.000.000 (limabelas juta rupiah). Pembayaran akan dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, dengan pembayaran terakhir diberikan setelah WWF menerima salinan berkas Tugas Akhir sesuai dengan proposal yang disampaikan.

Sebagai bahan kelengkapan dan pertimbangan, WWF Indonesia memerlukan beberapa persyaratan (dokumen) berupa:
1. Proposal singkat (max. 6 halaman kwarto) mencakup: Judul, latar-belakang, tujuan, metode yang akan digunakan, dan hasil yang diharapkan. (Penilaian akan ditekankan pada perumusan tujuan dan kejelasan metode.)

Prasetiya Mulya Future Leaders Scholarship - Prasetya Mulya Business School

Prasetiya Mulya Business School was established in September 1982 with the aim to serve as an excellent center of learning for its partners: business entrepreneurs, professionals, and researchers. Prasetiya Mulya Business School awards up to two scholarships for full-time Magister Manajemen (MM) students each year.

The scholarship awards are open to highly talented and potential leaders with excellent academic qualities but financially disadvantaged. Preference is given to candidates who possess the necessary aptitude, personal qualities and interest in management.
Two scholarships are available each year covering tuition fees, books and living allowance for a maximum tenure of 20 months.

Eligibility Criteria
• Indonesian citizen who can demonstrate leadership potential and interest in and
commitment to community and national development.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any legally accredited Indonesian or
overseas university. A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.25 (on a 4.00 scale) is
required.
• Applicant must be under 30 years of age when lodging the application.
• Preferably having a minimum of two-years full time professional work experience after
completion of the undergraduate degree when lodging the application
• Preferably having International or Institutional TOEFL minimum score of 550 (paper

Beasiswa Tanoto Foundation 2008/2009

Pada tahun 2002, keluarga Sukanto Tanoto membentuk Tanoto Foundation, satu lembaga nirlaba yang berkantor pusat di Jakarta. Awalnya, Tanoto Foundation, ditujukan pada bidang sosial kemasyarakatan secara umum, namun sejak awal 2005 dunia pendidikan menjadi prioritas utama. Hal ini mengingat bahwa salah satu komponen penting berkembangnya suatu bangsa, adalah kemampuan kualitas Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) yang dimiliki negara tersebut.

Program Beasiswa Tanoto Foundation Tahun Akademik 2008/2009 untuk Sarjana Strata 1 (S1) dan Sarjana Strata 2 (S2) kembali dibuka dengan kriteria sebagai berikut:

Proses Seleksi Program Beasiswa Tanoto Foundation Tahun Akademik 2008/2009:

Paramadina Fellowship 2008 adalah program Universitas Paramadina yang bekerjasama dengan para mitra (Adaro, Astra International, BlitzMegaplex, Chairul Tanjung Foundation (Trans-TV), Djarum, Fund Asia, Garudafood, Northstar Pacific, Radiant Utama, Republika, Salim Group, Sinar Mas Group, Tabloid Kontan, Tempo Magazine, The Jakarta Post, Triputra Investindo Arya, Abdul Latief, Ahmad Ganis, Fahmi Idris, Gita Wirjawan, Jeffrie Geovanie, Soegeng Sarjadi, Sofyan Rambe) yaitu memberikan beasiswa kepada 100 siswa dan lulusan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) atau sederajat yang memiliki potensi akademis maupun non-akademis untuk mengikuti pendidikan (S-1) di Universitas Paramadina.

Paramadina Fellowship 2008 ini berlaku bagi calon mahasiswa yang berniat untuk menempuh program sarjana di seluruh program studi yang tersedia di Universitas Paramadina yaitu Manajemen, Psikologi, Teknik Informatika, Falsafah dan Agama, Hubungan Internasional, Komunikasi, Desain Komunikasi Visual dan Disain Produk.

Program Paramadina Fellowship 2008 terdiri dari:
1. Paramadina Fellowship Kategori I
Kualifikasi:
• Siswa kelas 3 atau lulusan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) atau sederajat, baik dari sekolah swasta maupun negeri, dengan nilai rata-rata NEM atau STTB atau Rapor kelas I, II dan III minimum 7.50
• Termasuk 10 siswa atau lulusan terbaik di kelas selama 3 (tiga) semester
• Maksimal berumur 22 tahun pada tanggal 1 Januari 2008
• Berprestasi baik di bidang akademis atau non-akademis
• Memiliki kecerdasan emosional dan jiwa kepemimpinan
• Keaktifan dalam kegiatan organisasi intra dan ekstra sekolah maupun kemampuan berbahasa inggris atau bahasa asing lainnya merupakan nilai tambah
• Memahami dan menyetujui semua persyaratan dan ketentuan yang berlaku dalam program fellowship ini

Cakupan Pendanaan Fellowship:
• Nilai Beasiswa sebesar Rp. 65.000.000
• Biaya studi selama 4 tahun kalander akademik. Penerima Fellowship diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan studi dalam 3.5 tahun.

• Siswa kelas 3 atau lulusan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) atau sederajat, baik dari sekolah swasta maupun negeri, dengan nilai rata-rata NEM atau STTB atau Rapor kelas I, II dan III minimum 7.50
• Termasuk 10 siswa atau lulusan terbaik di kelas selama 3 (tiga) semester
• Maksimal berumur 22 tahun pada tanggal 1 Januari 2008
• Berprestasi baik di bidang akademis atau non-akademis
• Memiliki kecerdasan emosional dan jiwa kepemimpinan
• Memahami dan menyetujui semua persyaratan dan ketentuan yang berlaku dalam program fellowship ini

Cakupan Pendanaan Fellowship:
• Nilai Beasiswa sebesar Rp. 100.000.000
• Biaya studi selama 4 tahun kalander akademik. Penerima Fellowship diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan studi dalam 3.5 tahun.

• Biaya hidup (living Allowance) sebesar Rp. 1.000.000 (satu juta rupiah)/bulan

Ketentuan berlaku:
• Siswa yang mendapatkan program beasiswa ini harus menyelesaikan masa kuliah dalam kurun 4 tahun kalender akademik.
• Siswa yang tidak mendapatkan nilai IPK min. 3.00 sebanyak dua kali akan dinyatakan gagal dan tidak lagi mendapatkan beasiswa untuk penyelesaian sisa masa studi
• Nominasi ini akan gugur dengan sendirinya apabila pendaftar dinyatakan tidak lulus UAN

Yayasan Pendidikan Bisnis Indonesia (YPBI) adalah yayasan yang didirikan oleh keluarga Bakrie yang bertujuan untuk menyelenggarakan pendidikan bisnis yang berkualitas internasional. Yayasan ini mengelola Bakrie School of Management (BSM).

Pengajuan beasiswa dilakukan secara kolektif melalui sekolah asal masing-masing disertai dengan kelengkapan berkas. Pengajuan yang tidak lengkap tidak akan diproses; dan jika diperlukan, panitia akan melakukan peninjauan lapangan selain dikirim ke sekolah-sekolah, formulir pendaftaran dan brosur tersedia secara elektronik. Berkas-berkas kelengkapan yang dibutuhkan untuk mengajukan beasiswa ini dapat dilihat pada formulir pendaftaran dan brosur tersebut. Hello. We think we know you. You are a good student, maybe even a great or fabulous student. You are looking forward to going to college. Or, more likely, you are in your senior year and getting organized for the full court press of getting into the college of your choice and getting the financial aid you need to be sure you and your family can afford this next step of your education.

It’s pretty exciting and more than a little nerve-wracking. You’re already dealing with the pressures of your high school career and they are significant, we know. The process of getting ready, getting into and paying for college is a very big extra project in your already crowded life.

You may be reading this website because you’ve already concluded that you will apply for scholarships. Or, the question of whether or not to apply for scholarships may not have an obvious answer for you yet. Either way, it’s sensible to read our website and get the facts about scholarships as well as the best advice we can offer about how to succeed in winning scholarships.

The Brunel International Scholarship 2008 - Brunel University

The International Leadership in Education Program (ILEP) - Teacher Exchange Program

ILEP (The International Leadership in Education Program) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and is implemented by IREX (the International Research & Exchanges Board), a Washington, DC based non-profit organization. The International Leadership in Education Program will provide 52 teachers from the Near East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The International Leadership in Education Program will consist of a semester-long academic program at a U.S. university, including coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, teaching strategies for their home environment, educational leadership, as well as the use of computers for Internet, word processing and as tools for teaching. The semester-long program, which will commence in January 2008 and conclude in June 2008, will also include an internship at a secondary school to engage participants actively with the American teachers and students. Trips to U.S. cultural sites and academic support will be provided for participants throughout the program.

Eligible Applicants Must Be:
• Secondary-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom disciplines including: English as a Foreign Language; Social Studies; Civics; Mathematics; Science.

Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program to pursue Ph.D. Degree in the United States for the 2009-2010 Academic Year

The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to announce the availability of approximately 40 new Fulbright scholarships under the aegis of the Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program to pursue Ph.D. degree in the United States for the 2009-2010 academic year.

The Fulbright Program in Indonesia promotes mutual understanding between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America through educational exchange and academic scholarship. Fulbright scholarships are available to Indonesian citizens with the appropriate qualifications as stipulated in the program descriptions listed below.

Applicants will possess:
• a Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.00 scale).
• demonstrated leadership qualities.
• a good understanding of Indonesian and other cultures.
• a deep commitment to the chosen field of study.
• a determination to return to Indonesia upon completion of the Fulbright program and to take up academic positions in higher education upon their return.
• a TOEFL score (the TOEFL requirement for PhD program is 575 and above. However, in certain fields a score of 550 and above will be considered).

All disciplines and fields of study are eligible for a Fulbright award. Priority fields are:
• Social Sciences
• Religious Studies
• Science and Engineering
• Law
• Education—specifically, English Teaching and Higher Education Administration.

• Completed application form. This includes a clearly written and concise study objective.
• Copy of your most recent, less than two years old, TOEFL score report.
• One letter of reference, either from your current employer or previous lecturer.

South East Asia Undergraduate Scholarships 2008 - University of Leeds

The Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds is one of the largest groups of life-science researchers within the UK, and offers superb facilities and a high quality research training environment for all areas including agriculture, animal and plant sciences, biochemistry and molecular biology, bioinformatics, ecology and evolution, genetics, immunology, microbiology, neurosciences, pharmacology and physiology, and structural molecular biology.

The Faculty of Biological Sciences offers a number of scholarships for students who are both resident and currently being educated in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia or Brunei (Nationals of Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia or Brunei paying full overseas fees but resident outside of their home country may apply for the Faculty of Biological Sciences International Scholarships Scheme). The schemes are open to new undergraduate students who commence a programme of study within the Faculty in September 2008.

The Biological Sciences South East Asia Undergraduate Prize Scholarships - £3,000. For 2008 entry there will be one competitive prize scholarship of £3,000 available for outstanding new undergraduate students from South East Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia or Brunei).

• How to apply: All applicants will be considered via their UCAS application form.

• Academic criteria: To be awarded as determined by the Faculty International Scholarships Committee.

• Renewal of scholarship: For undergraduate study, the scholarship may be renewed for up to a maximum of three years of study subject to satisfactory academic progress.

To receive any Faculty of Biological Sciences SE Asia Prize Scholarship all students must meet all the following conditions:
• Commence a programme of study in the Faculty of Biological Sciences in September 2008 and be fully registered on 1st December 2008.
• Be a full-time student paying full overseas rated fees.
• Be in receipt of a written scholarship offer from the Faculty and fulfil the academic conditions of that offer.
• Be a national of Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia or Brunei and be resident and educated in that country immediately prior to joining the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds.

Scholarships will be allocated subject to the full terms of the schemes. Students may only be awarded one Faculty of Biological Sciences Scholarship. Faculty of Biological Sciences International Scholarships are not available to students who have other University of Leeds scholarships or bursaries or who have secured alternative external sources of funding e.g. government sponsorship. The Faculty reserves the right not to award scholarships if candidates do not meet the required criteria.

Applicants should normally apply for The Biological Sciences South East Asia Undergraduate Prize Scholarships of study within the Faculty by 30 May 2008.
